Within the first 18 months of the project the objectives of the testbed activity are twofold:

• providing procedures and recommendations for the operation of CoreGRID testbeds by end of month 12, and
• establishing and demonstrating a fist testbed by end of this period.

In order to prepare this, all CoreGRID partners have been contacted and asked for input on:

• resources they plan to contribute to the CoreGRID testbeds,
• local policies that have to be respected,
• other regional/national/international testbeds the partners are already participating in.

The results of this survey have been compiled in a document and provide the basis for:

• the clustering of partners,
• the preparation of procedures and recommendations for the operation of testbeds,
• the selection of partners to create the first testbed.
