Lodging

Although there are hotels near the university, we recommend you to stay in the city center, preferably near the main station.
It will be more comfortable for you to reach your hotel after dinner and other activities on Thursday and the university is not far.
We recommend the NH hotel (starts 89.- Euros), also nearby is the Mercure (starts 100.- Euros).
If you prefer a different style, standard, or view, a list of Dortmund's hotels can be found here.
Update: [2008-02-17] Since the NH hotel seems to be already booked, we recommend the Mercure. In addition
there is still the option to book the Tryp hotel near the university, although you will only get there conveniently
by taxi (especially at night). Please check their web site .
Transportation
by air
Dortmund has its own airport (DTM) which is a good choice in case your favourite destination is served.
An equally good choice (in terms of travel time to the university) is the Duesseldorf airport (DUS) while Cologne airport (CGN) is a bit further off.
from Dortmund
  • Take a taxi to the address below. This may cost you around 40 Euros.
  • Take the Airport Express to the main railway station (5 Euros). The timetable is here. From the railway station continue with the S1 (see below).
from Duesseldorf
  • The train is the best option (since taking a taxi is really costly). The train ride to the university takes about 1h to 1h15. Find a suitable conenction trough the German railway travel service website. Your start station is "Dusseldorf Airport" and your destination "Dortmund Universitaet". Please take into account that you need to take the SkyTrain from the terminal to the train station which may take some time. Once you are at the S-Bahn station Dortmund Universitaet you need to take the H-Bahn to Campus Sued (see below).
from Cologne
  • Also the train option. From "Koeln Bonn Airport" to "Dortmund Universitaet". Takes around 2h.
by train
Your destination is "Dortmund Universitaet". From the main railway station ("Dortmund Hbf") you take the S1 subway (see time table) for a 7 minutes ride. This will bring you to the north part of the university's campus. To reach the south part, take the "H-Bahn", line 2, which comes every five minutes. Exit to the right and the ITMC is only two minutes away (see Google map below).

by car
Please feed your navigation system or travel planner with the following address and you will easily find your way to the ITMC:
August-Schmidt-Strasse 12
44227 Dortmund
Germany
Misc
Google Maps showing the ITMC. It is not the building below the arrow, but the one to the left next to the parking lot.
