How to get to the IAB meeting place:
Atlas Suite
Kilburn Building (1st floor)
School of Computer Science
University of Manchester
The Kilburn Building is the building number 39 on the University campus map
(see http://www.manchester.ac.uk/visitors/travel/maps/numerical/ )
The arrow on the following map shows the exact location of Kilburn Building.
It takes about 15-20 minutes (a comfortable walk following Oxford St/Rd) to
get to the Kilburn Building from the OGF20 venue (located at top left of the
map, on Lower Mosley street)
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=384565&y=396797&z=2&sv=384565,396797
&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf
Once you reach Kilburn Building you need to get to the 1st floor.
The best way to do this is to get to the external walkway at first floor
level by climbing the stairs from outside the building.
You should not enter the building from the ground level, it's too
complicated. After you enter the Kilburn Building from the 1st floor level
walkway (past the two automatic doors), you need to turn right and the Atlas
suite is at the end of the corridor (there are signs).
Travel Information
The best way to get to Manchester town centre from the airport is by train.
The main train station in the city centre is Manchester Piccadilly (search
for the red dot, located near the top, in the map above) and there are
frequent train services. The journey time is about 20 minutes. The cost of a
return ticket should be about 6 pounds (often, the cost depends on time/day
of travel, so you may want to enquire before buying your ticket. As a
general rule though, in the UK, typically, an one-way train ticket may cost
only a little less than the cost of a return ticket, so, almost always one
opts for a return ticket).
For train times and fares information, check http://www.nationalrail.co.uk
In case you are going to walk from Manchester Piccadilly to Kilburn
Building, you will need about 20-25 minutes. There is also a frequent bus
service that connects Manchester Piccadilly with the University buildings on
Oxford Road - see
http://www.campus.manchester.ac.uk/staffnet/travelplan/oxfordrdlink/
A taxi to the University from the airport should cost about 15-20 pounds, at
day time, and the journey time should be about 20-30 minutes.
There is also a bus service (number 43) from the airport, which stops
outside Kilburn Building. However, the bus may take more than 1 hour - for
further information see:
